Taiwan Steel Group has expanded its business by acquiring the franchise rights for Burger King in Taiwan
This strategic move is in line with Taiwan Steel's goal to diversify its portfolio, which currently includes investments in various sports teams such as TSG Tainan City Football Club, Tainan TSG Ghost Hawks basketball team, TSG Hawks baseball team, and Wing Stars cheerleading team.
Despite Burger King already operating 95 outlets in Taiwan, this number is considered insufficient by industry experts. Taiwan Steel aims to increase it to at least 130 in the near future, according to UDN. The annual revenue of Burger King from its domestic operations in Taiwan is approximately NT$2.2 billion (US$68.8 million). However, final approval from Burger King's headquarters in the United States is still pending.
Taiwan Steel Group has a diverse business portfolio that includes steel, network communications, chemicals and green energy, and sports and health. With 17 associated listed companies both domestically and internationally, it is recognized as the world's top producer of steel cables and the largest integrated electric furnace steelmaking group in Taiwan.
In the network communications sector, Taiwan Steel oversees two major sub-groups, D-Link and EC Communication, which together control six publicly listed entities.
Moreover, the group has investments in health and sports, covering areas such as food, insurance, leisure and fitness, catering, performing arts, and various sports teams.
